Vase with gingko leaves, lidded jar with ferns (attr. to Christian Thomsen), plate with sweet pea and butterfly, Denmark, ca. 1897-1900; All marked; 8", 6", 8 3/4" dia.; Provenance: Boston, 1980 (vase with gingko leaves); Lloyd Macklowe, New York, 1976 (jar); Collection of Martin Eidelberg, New York; Another example of the vase with ginko leaves was bought in 1897 by the Berlin Museum of Decorative arts; see Berlin, Kunstgewerbe Museum, Werke um 1900, cat. 79. An example of the covered jar with ferns was illustrated in Art et décoration, 1899, p. 181; another example of this model is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Both the vase with ginko leaves and the jar with ferns were illustrated side-by-side in Dekorative Kunst, vol. 10, 1906-07, p. 114.
