PETER VOULKOS (1924 - 2002); Monumental "Anasazi S13" patinated bronze Stack pot, Berkeley, CA, 2010; Number 2 from an edition of 5; Signed and dated VOULKOS 99, numbered 2/5 and stamped VOULKOS FAMILY TRUST; 74" x 36" x 35"; Provenance: Complete with a signed copy of correspondence from Pier Voulkos, co-trustee of the Voulkos Family Trust, to current owner, documenting the history of “Anasazi S13”; Note: A total of nine bronzes belonging to two editions were cast from the original ceramic Stack pot created in 1999. The present lot belongs to the second, posthumous edition; ; While celebrated as one of the most important pioneers of studio ceramics in the 21st Century, Peter Voulkos also cast a number of his abstract impressionist pots in bronze. The present lot, “Anasazi S13,” belongs to the second, posthumous edition from a group of nine bronzes cast under the direction of Piero Mussi of the Artworks Foundry in Berkeley, CA. Mussi has also worked with artists such as Ruth Asawa, Jun Kaneko
